A FAMILY BUSINESS
My grandfather was in business, at least that's what he always told us. He started out killing rats for a couple of gold pieces a pop. In those days there were a lot of rats in Karunth. Pretty soon he was running his own extermination company. He became pretty famous. Now I'm learning the family business for myself, from the ground up, so to speak. This is my story...
There's not really much to tell. I washed up in Karunth City, just last week. My life up to this point hasn't been much to write about. So I won't. It was a Tuesday, the wind was blowing, there was snow on the ground. I walked around with no place to go and I ended up on the downtown side, right by the sewers. There was some girl there selling potions and lotions. She told me there was work, fighting goblins, down in the sewers but somebody had beat me to it. All I wound up with was a dose of some stinking disease. It was going to be a long week.
I mooched around some more, knocked on some doors, rattled a few fences and landed some work as an entertainer in one of those bars, around the market, I forget the name. It didn't last long. I got on the stage to sing and play, the man there said "Comeback some other day, we don't need no hillbillies around here".
Just as I was thinking of "knocking over" one of those merchants in the square or something else desperate, I bumped into one of those cleric types. She told me, they were having some problems with rats over at the temple. I figured what the hell. So here I am, Karunth's newest pest controller. It can only get better from here... I hope.
